Our August holiday we have spent together with Merlin in a beautiful nature of Sumava National Park. Each day we made a nice trip (longer or shorter, dependingon a degree of our tiredness), we were looking for mushrooms or hunting treasures (geocaches). Thanks to geocaches we have visited plenty of beautiful and interesting places that are mentioned neither in maps nor in tourist guides. Merlin was happy that he can sleep in Vendula's bed, which is forbidden for him at home. After we returned home, it was difficult to explain him that his presence in bed is accepted only exceptionally. Now, in the evenings he sneaks into our sleeping room, hops into our bed and pretends that there is no doggie at all.

Vendula insisted on that she has to see the beauty of Sumava nature from a horseback and booked a whole day horseriding trip directly for the first day.  Meanwhile, Joerg and Merlin set off for a trip along Otava River. The consequences of eight hours in a saddle limited Vendula in walking for two more days :o). After such an experience (taking into accont one year break in horseriding), one can count almoust all muscles you can find in atlas of human anatomy. But also for Merlin the visit of the horse farm was too much: first he was attacked by a huge male of Akita Inu who tried to get Merlin off the territory. After the Akita Inu was closed, Merlin was playing with a little puppy. Shortly after he was attacked by a free running Coati, a horse farm owner's pet and later mamma climbed on one of the huge creatures, which kidnapped her. Merlin tried to rescue her but Joerg hold him back. Fortunately.

All around, we spent a really nice active, mind-relaxing week in nature. Merlin was tired because each day he experienced something new: new places, new smells, new doggies, new people... but overall he seemed to be really happy. When he can run together with us through forest and be the whole time with us, he is the most happy dog in the world.
